Can you tell us about Passionfruits LA?

Passionfruits LA is a platform for creative entrepreneurs! We provide space for small, black businesses, local merchants, and artists to showcase and or make profits from their businesses.

How did Passionfruits LA get started?

When I moved to LA, I felt like it was so hard being a woman breaking into the scene and events, so I created my own. Passionfruits started off catering to women to provide spaces for them specifically, because I felt that was another reason I was having issues getting out on events to perform, etc.

We love the name of the organization. What is the inspiration behind it?

It is a play on words, meaning you can create fruits from your labor if you stay passionate in all that you do.

What has your experience been like so far as a young entrepreneur?

It’s been a long process of trial and error, and I am sure that will always be the case. Lol

What motivated you to start doing the work that you do?

Everything I do stems from who I am and what I have always done. Everything I do now I have been doing since I was a kid. This is just who I am. I love bringing people together, I love business, and I love equal opportunity.

We know that a large part of your organization is hosting community events. What has been your favorite Passionfruits LA event thus far?

My favorite event was my most current! I hosted a rooftop market in the heart of LA for small, black businesses, and local merchants of all kinds.

What inspired you to launch your clothing line, Smoked Sugar Lingerie?

Onlyfans. I was wearing lingerie so much and people seemed to like what I was choosing in my photos, so I decided to take a chance at creating my own curated boutique for my site!

Where can we listen to your music?

You can find my music content and everything else on I am also on all streaming platforms under the name ‘Melody Reyne’.
